Healing Through Arts with Music & Storytelling
A creative healing program where youth use music, songwriting, poetry, rap, and storytelling to express themselves, process their experiences, and turn their personal stories into something positive. BOE uses creativity as a way for youth to discover their voice, build confidence, and turn pain into purpose.
Healing Through Movement
A movement based healing program that uses dance, yoga, meditation, and hip hop to help youth express emotions, build confidence, develop discipline, and create healthier ways to process what they experience.
Economic Healing
A financial education program that helps youth understand money, assets, liabilities, investing, consumerism, and the financial patterns that can develop from growing up in poverty. The goal is to help youth see economic opportunities beyond simply surviving.
Big Homie Leadership
A social and emotional development program designed for youth who often feel unheard, misunderstood, or disconnected from their potential. BOE helps youth dream again, even when they feel like they are in no position to dream. Staff identify and bring out the best skills in each young person and help the youth recognize those strengths in themselves before negative influences teach them how to survive through illegal activity. The goal is to help youth see that the same skills they may use to survive can be redirected toward leadership, purpose, and success.
Evolution Circles
A healing and connection space where youth can talk openly about their highs, lows, emotions, relationships, and life experiences. The circles create an environment where youth can be heard, supported, and connected to others without judgment.
Community Events
Community experiences designed to reconnect people who have lost a sense of belonging with family because of anger, death, incarceration, separation, or other circumstances. BOE believes that when family connections become difficult or unavailable, the next best thing to family is community. These events create positive spaces where people can experience belonging, joy, connection, and healthy community.
Rallies & Assemblies
School based experiences designed to create school pride, strengthen relationships, motivate youth, and remind students that their school can be a place where they feel seen, celebrated, and connected.
Responding to Trauma Response
A training program that prepares staff, educators, mentors, and other adults who oversee youth to better recognize, acknowledge, and respond when a young person is experiencing a trauma response. The goal is to help adults respond to what is happening with greater understanding rather than immediately treating the youth’s behavior as defiance or misconduct.
